Gardens, Flowers, & Landscaping

C3 Compost is a beneficial soil amendment to add to your existing garden soil. Our humus compost adds beneficial micro-organisms and nutrients to your plants as they grow.

FALL TIME: A great time to incorporate our compost is in the fall after removing all vegetation from your garden. Lightly rake approximately ¼ lb. per square foot.

SPRING TIME:

• Incorporate our compost in the spring by lightly raking ¼ lb. per square foot.

• Application of a handful of compost added directly to the hole prior to planting bedding plants is beneficial for the plant roots.

• You may also top dress your soil near the plants as their growth progresses.

MAINTAINING A HEALTHY LAWN
A healthy lawn begins with healthy soil. C3 Compost provides a method of improving soil health by adding compost to your soil. C3 Compost provides primary nutrients plus micronutrients that naturally feed your lawn. C3 Compost adds organic matter to your soil which hosts beneficial microorganisms turning organic fertilizer and minerals in the soil into plant-available nutrients that can be absorbed by the roots.

REJUVENATE AND IMPROVE YOUR EXISTING LAWN
Topdressing your lawn in early spring can improve germination and moisture retention. Spreading after aeration can create favorable results. Fall application is another great time to incorporate C3 Compost into your lawns.

When topdressing, you want enough compost to be effective.

• Distribute the compost by spreading small piles over the lawn. The idea is to space the piles evenly throughout the area. Incorporate the compost into the soil surface by using a sturdy tine rake to spread evenly across the entire area or by using a pull type tine rake.
• Rake until the grass blades are almost fully visible through the compost.
• Applying water to the compost can provide the opportunity to then work its way into the soil to expose the grass blades that were covered. Do not overwater which could cause the compost to run off.

STARTING A NEW LAWN
• Prepare your soil by working the area. Apply compost on top of your worked soil. Best results are achieved by NOT tilling compost once applied to the soil. Lightly incorporating compost into the soil will provide the best results.
• Sow the grass seed into the soil.
• Lightly rake the soil to cover the seeds. You may roll the soil to obtain a nice smooth surface area.
• Provide mulch if desired and lightly water to maintain moist soil conditions.
